Today we are working with the letter U. We colored a Uu with umbrellas on it, practiced our letter and made really cute umbrellas! We had a busy week with our boxes, and we will finish coloring our rockets, and finish on Monday with our box unit. We have missed Ella since she has been on spring break, so we will get to have her back to finish our box fun on Monday.
This week we are reading the book Christina Katerina and the Box, and the book Not a Box. We had so much fun yesterday building our bus and painting it outside. The day was sunny (today starts a blizzard!), so it was a perfect day! We painted it with yellow tempera paint, added a steering wheel, wheels, and lights, and we are ready to go!
We have had several visits from the Leprechauns and tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day, so it could be the last visit on Wednesday. We had an atlas with the page open to Ireland, and strawberries waiting for us in the playroom. We know it was them because they had footprints all over. We found where Ireland is, and it has water all around it. They left us a note that said they live in trees and like to eat berries, so they left us some strawberries for breakfast. They were really yummy! We are making rainbows with Froot Loops cereal, counting sequential rainbow numbers, and putting Tissue on the letter Tt. Don’t forget to wear green tomorrow, so you don’t get pinched, and we are having our picture taken by the tree in hopes we will see the Leprechauns! We’ll post a picture if we see them!
Today we celebrate the day with PURPLE! We made a purple guy, and a purple book. We learned that red and blue makes purple! We mixed paint, and looked through a red tube and a blue tube of water with a rubber band around them and discovered we see purple.
We have celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday all week. We love Ten Apples Up On Top, but we did that in Sept., so we are exploring the less read ones. Today we read The Eye Book and The Shape of Me and Other Stuff! Today we painted with “People” sponges, and they were the shape of “us”. We also did some fun designs on solar paper. We used keys, circles, buttons, and letters. The paper is fun stuff that you can buy at USToy. We also started the letter S and made a snake out of a paper plate. We also colored a snake around the letter S. Tomorrow we will end our week with Red Fish Blue Fish 1 Fish 2 Fish.
